The flight physical hearing test..?
The flight physical hearing test..?
Do any of you pilots know folks that are alittle deaf and still pass the hearing test? What happens if you click the button too many times during the hearing test? Is that worse then not clicking it enough?
I have trouble with the high frequency beeps. How can I get around this? This isnt for a flight physical, its for a totally unrelaterd physical examine..
Thank You! If it's totally unrelated to a flight physical, you may have problems getting a good answer here. Most Aviation Medical Examiners don't use an audiometer to test the whole range of hearing. While an audiometric test is one of the acceptable methods, the most common method is to "demonstrate an ability to hear an average conversational voice in a quiet room, using both ears, at a distance of 6 feet from the examiner, with the back turned to the examiner". The examiners who do use an audiometer aren't very popular among professional pilots because pilots don't want their career riding on the results of a test that is more thorough than what's required. The test for me has always been.
The examiner waits until my back is turned to him.
He whispers a question.
If you answer you pass.
Really.
